The number of active COVID-19 cases by service area was made available by CISSSO, the regional health authority, on Oct. 23, and as of Monday afternoon the RLS Pontiac had four active cases.
Having only kept track of active numbers in the entire Outaouais up to this point, people are now able to find out . . .
how many active counts of COVID-19 there are within the combined RLS of the Municipality of Pontiac (MoP) and the MRC Pontiac on CISSSO’s website.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the MoP has had 21 cases, while the Municipalities of Fort Coulonge, Mansfield et Pontefract, L’Île du Grand Calumet and Shawville have each had five or less. The entire Pontiac has had 26 total cases.
As of Monday afternoon, the Outaouais had 239 active cases (2,264 total, 1,985 recovered) and 18 hospitalizations, with no one in intensive care. The number of active cases saw a decrease, going down 22 from 261 last Monday.
Testing has significantly decreased over the past three weeks, but CISSSO’s Marie-Pier Després, media relations agent, told THE EQUITY in an email that this is not due to less testing capabilities but instead a significant decrease in demand.
The region also continues to deal with active outbreaks at six CISSSO-run facilities: Résidence Cité Jardin, Résidence de L’ile, CHSLD La Renaissance, Hôpital de Gatineau, RPA Chartwell Notre-Dame and RPA Chartwell Monastère d’Aylmer.
