BRECKENRIDGE Sept. 2, 2020

A 60 year-old Breckenridge-area man was arrested and transported to hospital for psychological evaluation on Sept. 2.

MRC des Collines Police were called to chemin Cedarvale in the Municipality of Pontiac at 11:45 a.m. by a concerned resident who . . .

said that a man was in psychological stress and yelling outside, according to Sgt. Martin Fournel.

The man barricaded himself inside his house as police arrived.

“Our officers surrounded the house and negotiated with him, at the end he was arrested for threatening our officer,” Fournel explained. “He was transported by ambulance to the hospital, basically our goal was just to negotiate [with] him to surrender and [then] he can get the help that he needs.”

Fournel said that police were on scene until roughly 5 p.m. and that the individual did not have weapons at any point during the standoff.

He added that he did not have further information available on the man other than that he was sent for evaluation.
