OTTER LAKE July 28, 2020

The RA grounds in Otter Lake were alive with howls of fun and the pitter patter of little feet as the Maison des jeunes du Pontiac held the first of their “Animation on Wheels” event.

MDJ coordinator Desiree Tremblay-Giroux explained that . . .

the event was put together by a group of 12 youth aged 12-15 from a variety of local communities, who organized and ran the event for the younger cohort of children.

“The youth have organized animation in three different municipalities and what they do is bring the equipment to the municipal park … make sure it’s a safe place to gather and abide by all the government regulations and have a fun activity for kids and their families,” she said.

Different stations were set up around the park, offering everything from bouncy castles to mini-putt, a bean bag toss and a life-size game of monopoly. Each station had a volunteer supervising it and disinfecting anything handled by multiple people.

“Everyone’s trying to follow social distancing measures while having fun,” Tremblay-Giroux said.

She added that the group had to limit their activities in Otter Lake to 35 participants at a time, but said that their upcoming appearances, in Fort Coulonge on August 4 and Mansfield et Pontefract on August 11, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., would be able to allow more.
