MUNICIPALITY OF PONTIAC Aug. 5, 2020
The Municipality of Pontiac is one step closer to returning to pre-pandemic services with the re-introduction of certain in-person appointments.
Director General Pierre Said explained to THE EQUITY that . . .
residents will now be able to schedule appointments by phone for taxation and urban planning.
Appointments will be scheduled according to the designated days for each service: Monday, Wednesday and Friday for taxation and Tuesday and Thursday for the urban planning appointments.
Running taxation services online over the past several months had been fairly smooth, as paying by cheque or using internet is relatively simple for most residents, Said noted.
The urban planning process was made slightly more difficult throughout the shutdown, as in-person appearances are more typical of that process.
“We were not able to send the inspector on the site, so it was difficult to do any inspection,” Said explained. “So when people were calling for example, when things were laying on the road or whatever, we were not able to send somebody live on the spot.”
Said added that many of the municipality employees have been back at the office since the beginning of June.
In addition to the municipal services being back, the Luskville and Quyon Community centres and the Quyon Women’s Institute are open to the public for rent as of Aug. 1.
The libraries in Luskville and Quyon will be open as of Aug. 5, with Luskville’s new hours being Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Quyon’s being Monday and Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
All the re-opened services within the municipality will be accompanied by the required health measures with regards to social distancing, wearing masks and disinfecting.
