PORTAGE DU FORT June 18, 2020

A man was interviewed by the police after he . . .

attempted to dig up the walkway next to the Lady Head Monument in Portage du Fort.

Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Sgt. Marc Tessier said that the police were contacted about the 54 year-old man’s attempts to refurbish the monument without the consent of the municipality on June 6., but officers didn’t interview him until June 18.

Tessier said that they would be transferring the file to the local crown attorney’s office in Campbell’s Bay, who would make the decision of whether or not to file any charges.
