The two Pontiac branches of the Caisse Populaire Dejardins have agreed to merge and will now be collectively known as the Caisse Desjardins des Rivières de Pontiac.
Members of the Chapeau and Fort Coulonge branches of the Caisse voted unanimously for the change at special meetings on Oct. 2 and 3, and it will officially come into effect on Jan. 1, 2019.

Speaking to The Equity prior to the votes, General Manger Stéphane Labine said that the two branches had already been working together closely. He stressed that there would be very few changes for members and no jobs would be cut.
The membership of the new organization will total 5,900 and nearly $253.2 million in business volume.
