CALEB NICKERSON
CAMPBELL’S BAY
Aug. 12, 2018
On Aug. 12, a small group of athletic enthusiasts gathered in Campbell’s Bay to test their mettle in a multi-discipline fitness challenge.
The first ever Campbell’s Bay for fun triathlon was a striking success, with five participants plunging into the murky waters at the municipal boat launch for the start of the race.
The organizer was Sebastien Negrier of France, who is currently training for the Mont Tremblant Ironman on Aug. 19. He is racing on behalf of the charity that helps handicapped children and said that the event on Sunday was a good way to warm up for the real thing.
Participants started out with a 300-m swim up the river, fighting the current until they rounded the kayak that marked the half way point.
Once out of the water, they hopped on their bikes for two, five km loops around the town before finishing with a two km run on the PPJ.
Negrier’s journey can be followed on his Facebook page: 7000kms pour Exister.
