LADYSMITH April 27, 2018
On April 27, the Thorne Community Recreation Association (TCRA) Hall in Ladysmith was packed with people eager to tuck into a hearty spaghetti supper.
TCRA kitchen manager Norma Charette explained that the organization tries to put on one dinner a month, as a way to bring the community together.
“Spaghetti is a popular one,” she said, estimating that they would be feeding at least 150 people over the course of the evening.
A team of eight volunteers were hard at work in the kitchen, keeping everything running smoothly.
In addition to the noodles, there was a plethora of side dishes and salads. Charette explained that the dessert table is made up entirely of donations from attendees.
“They quite willingly contribute desserts,” she said with a laugh.
She added that she feels the dinners have contributed greatly to the unity of the community.
“It’s made the community come back together,” she said. “People want to come out.”
