At the last MRC Pontiac council meeting, the MRC announced that it will be creating a new volunteer award.
“I was surprised that the MRC wasn’t doing this already,” said Warden Jane Toller.
Each municipality will nominate a person, group or organization that is deserving of the honour.
One nominee from each municipality will be chosen. The winners will get a plaque to go with the award.
The MRC has set aside a fund of $1,000 to pay for the plaques and the awards.
The awards will be handed out each year in May, so municipalities have to submit their nominees in short order.
