Dear Editor,
As somebody who grew up in Shawville during times of occasional economic uncertainty, the prospect of 10 additional jobs in our region due to the upcoming construction of a new abattoir is excellent news. Financial assistance, and a loan, are being provided by the province of Quebec to aid entrepreneurial farmer Alain Lauzon with an excellent initiative.
Everyone has something to say about how our elected representatives perform. Our feedback holds politicians to account, and encourages accountability. Quite often we are very quick to provide negative feedback on the actions of our representatives, but we should also in turn speak to the good measures that impact us positively.
This support this project has received is a good measure for the region undertaken by the provincial Liberal government.

Ben Woodman, Gatineau, Que.
