January feels like it has just been crawling by. I’m not complaining because winter is my favourite season but I hope everyone is finding ways to pass these cold, dark days.
Families with children playing hockey are keeping busy as there are many taking part in tournaments on the weekends.
Last weekend, Shawville played host to the Bantam/Midget Pontiac Provincial Tournament and next weekend will showcase the Atom/PeeWee level. I’m looking forward to spending some time at the rink as my nephew Caden will be playing with his team, the Aylmer Vikings. This past weekend, they made it all the way to the finals at a tournament in Montreal, losing 2-1 in that final game. Kudos to all the young hockey players in our area. We hope you are all enjoying great seasons and having fun at tournaments.
The brief mild spells we’ve had the past few weeks have melted much of our snow which isn’t helping the snowmobilers or snowshoe and ski enthusiasts.
Ski Pontiac is still planning on some terrific events coming up in February, starting with a moonlit ski/shoe night on Feb. 3 at Pine Lodge. I’m hoping to join in the fun that evening.
Auntie Ida-Mae would like to wish her sweet niece, Madison Harris, a grand 14th birthday. We also have birthday wishes going out to Kenny Fleck and Jaime Côté, both celebrating Jan. 24 and to Sue Chabot on Jan. 27. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.
It’s time for Soup and Sandwich lunches again. The first one of the season will be held today at Quyon United Church. They will be held on the fourth Wednesday of the month from now until April. Looking forward to seeing everyone out for a delicious lunch and fellowship.
