The Chutes Coulonge Park invites everyone to come to their 15th consecutive Festival of Lights. This year’s edition will run only three weekends.

The site was opened last weekend and will be opened next weekend Dec. 9-10 and the following weekend Dec. 16-17.

The population is invited to walk into the illuminated trails and spend a bit of time in the beautiful panorama of the chutes. The event is becoming more and more popular, with last year’s edition seeing more than 1,800 people visit the site during the Festival of Lights, according to the organizers.

Visitors have access to a bonfire and free hot chocolate. Santa Claus is also very active on the site. Admission fee is $10 per adult, $6 for kids and $30 for a family of four.

The site opens at 6 p.m. and closes at 9 p.m daily. No reservation required. Organizers say they are glad they don’t have to deal with any COVID-19 special procedures this year.

The park has a five stars rating on Facebook. The main waterfall is 48 meters high and ends in a small canyon.

A big ramp beside the main waterfall was constructed in the 1840s to facilitate the carriage of big wood logs from the north portion of Coulonge River onto the Outaouais River.
