Dear Editor,

A long time ago – in the early ‘60s – I lived in Shawville.

My father, Dr. Roly Armitage, along with Mickey Hodgins and many other Shawville residents, put together a plan to fund and build an arena that was a state of the art Butler steel framed building. The cost was around $350,000. Many people were outraged that such a large amount was going to be spent on an arena.

Now it’s is going to cost $17M to repair it.

As Bob Dylan once sang “Things Have Changed.”
