A new equine veterinarian will soon be offering her services to horse owners in the Pontiac region, east of Campbell’s Bay. 

Outaouais native Adrianna Schwarzer graduated form the University of Montreal’s Saint-Hyacinthe veterinary school last year, and has since moved back home to Hull where she is now launching a new veterinary service, AS Equine Services. 

Since launching her Facebook page in June, she has received an outpouring of interest, including some 100 or so emails and messages from people requesting to be added to her client list. 

“Since I come form the region I know the reality of the missing equine vets,” she told THE EQUITY. 

While she plans to begin visiting new clients at the beginning of September, she’s spent the summer doing client intake and getting herself set up to provide this service in a region that has been without local vet options for many years. 

“I’ve had people needing advice or an emergency appointment before I even had my truck. It was a little overwhelming, it feels like a lot of pressure, but at the same time, just knowing that I can help out so many people, I can handle it,” she said. “I’ll figure out a way to help as many people as I can. I feel so welcomed and needed.” 

Schwarzer has set her regular service area such that no potential client would be more than a 1.5-hour drive from her home in Hull, the maximum time she wants to have to drive for an emergency visit. 

This means she will primarily cover the region east of Campbell’s Bay, south of Gracefield and Notre-Dame-Du-Laus, and west of Montebello. 

“I know that means that everyone outside [the boundary], if they have an emergency, then they dont necessarily have someone,” she acknowledged. “At that point I’m still available by phone if they want any help.” 

She said she is also happy to offer scheduled appointments or vaccination days outside of the perimeter if she can plan the day in advance.
