Serving up heaps of pasta made in a homemade sauce, a local organization held a harvest supper to help dress kids for winter.
The Quyon Family Centre opened their doors Saturday evening, when they held a fundraising spaghetti dinner in support of the Snowsuit Fund.
“There’s a lot of local families that benefit from it,” said Ashley Carson, president of the centre’s board of directors. “About 40 kids a year get a good quality snowsuit.”

Shelly the Turtle was out and about to welcome guests, waving down cars as they drove through town and welcoming all to the front door.
Once inside, there was tons on the menu. Offering up spaghetti in a meat or vegetable sauce, as well as buns, salad and a wide range of desserts, families gathered to fill their stomachs and pack the communal space.
Also featuring face painting, door prizes, raffle draws and silent auctions, almost $2,200 was raised by the gathering, meaning Pontiac kids can expect to be a whole lot warmer this winter in some new snowsuits.
“When it’s involved with the snowsuit fund, it’s easy to get donations,” said Carson. “Donations came from Chapeau to Aylmer.”
They received a lot of donations. Everything from the prize items and food were donated, with minimal expenses from the centre going towards picking up fresh veggies for dinner.
As the second annual iteration of this event, they decided to move the dinner inhouse, working as both a meal and open house event.
The Quyon Family Centre is a non-profit organization supporting families through aid, services, activities and programming in the Pontiac. Their events and services are funded on grants, donations and fundraising.
“It feels good to know that kids will benefit from this,” said Carson.
