The Veterans Memorial Tree Lighting was especially beautiful on Friday. Kudos to everyone who decorated and led the event. The carollers who walked from New Hope Church were awesome. 

On Saturday, our community welcomed students from École secondaire Sieur de Coulonge who walked 100 km to raise money for Bouffe Pontiac for our area. Bravo to all who organized and participated in this event.

On Saturday, the Lions Santa Claus Parade did not disappoint. Thank you to the Shawville Lions and the participants who made this a special occasion for children of all ages.

The Shawville-Clarendon Firefighters held their annual Christmas dinner on Saturday. As always it was well attended and a great time was had by all.

Despite the weather conditions on Sunday, many turned out at the Shawville Hospital for the demonstration against Bill 2 which is affecting our doctors and putting our province in very serious situation for patients health care. Please sign an online petition or write our MNA André Fortin. 

The PAS will be hosting their Bingo on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. situated at 215 Lang Street.

Bouffe Pontiac will be collecting food and money for their annual drive on Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the intersection of Centre and Main Streets.

The Parents’ Voice and the Shawville-Clarendon Library will be hosting their Lego Club on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the library.

Please do not forget the Municipality of Shawville’s Christmas Light Challenge. Businesses and residents are encouraged to decorate by Friday, Dec. 12. There will be prizes awarded to best Home and Business as well as bragging rights. Good Luck to everyone who participates.

Happy belated birthday to Brent Leach who celebrated his birthday on Mon., Dec. 1.
