Congratulations to Ashley Baker and Shane Powell who exchanged vows on the beach in Punta Cana last week. Seventy-five of their family members and friends were there to celebrate their big day with them. The photos I have seen are just stunning. The gang arrived home on Saturday and I hear they all had a wonderful trip.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Stella Scott who passed away over the weekend. Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones as they grieve this sad loss.
The Quyon Legion held a Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament on Saturday, and they had a great turn-out. First place was won by Bob Villon, with Carl Cole coming in second and Terry Hamilton taking third place. The Legion appreciates all of the support they received for this fundraising event.

Birthday wishes are going out to Hollie Leach and Mackenzie Barr, both celebrating on March 10. Happy 60th birthday to Janey Duff-MacDougall as she celebrates on March 11 with love from the family. We also have birthday wishes going out to Faith Hamilton on March 12 and to Donna Provost on March 13. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.
This coming Saturday, the Quyon Lions Club are hosting their annual curling bonspiel at the curling rink in Shawville. It is always such a fun day and I’m looking forward to it.
Saturday is also the grand opening of Boutique Shawville Shooz, the new shoe store that Jill McBane is opening. Perfect timing as I’ll be able to go over and check it out in between curling games. Wishing Jill much success with her grand opening.
The fun this coming weekend will keep rolling as Gavan’s Hotel will be hosting their big St. Patrick’s Day bash on Sunday. Doors open at noon and it will be a full day of Irish music, dancing, and fun. This will be the best way to kick off a week long of St. Pat’s celebrations. Get out your green and hope to see you there.
