With children returning to school this week, police will be keeping a keen eye on speeding infractions in school zones.
The Sûreté du Québec wants to remind drivers that officers will be increasing patrols around school zones to make sure the rules of the road are being followed.

Two major areas of focus will be enforcing speed limits and ensuring that drivers stop for school busses when lights are flashing.
Police also want to remind drivers about the severity of the penalties for failing to obey the rules.
For instance, a driver who passes a school bus that has lights flashing will lose demerit points and face a fine of $200 plus fees.
Additionally, drivers caught going 60 km/h in a 30 km/h zone will face a fine of $105 and lose two demerit points.
