Chrissy Payne has resigned as councillor in Chichester, according to a press release by Pontiac Ouest released on Monday.
Payne tendered her resignation at the monthly council meeting of July 6, where she announced that a new opportunity in Toronto is leading her to move out of the region.
Payne, who served nine years as Chichester councillor, was in her third term.
She was elected via acclamation in the 2025 municipal elections as no other candidate put forward their name for the position. She also ran unopposed in the 2021 elections.
In the following weeks, a by-election will be held to fill the seat. More information about the election process will be communicated by the municipality at that time.

Chrissy Payne a démissionné de son poste de conseillère à Chichester, selon un communiqué de presse de Pontiac Ouest publié lundi.
Payne a remis sa démission lors de la réunion mensuelle du conseil du 6 juillet, où elle a annoncé qu’une nouvelle opportunité à Toronto l’amenait à déménager hors de la région.
Payne, qui a siégé pendant neuf ans comme conseillère à Chichester, en était à son troisième mandat.
Elle a été élue par acclamation lors des élections municipales de 2025, car aucun autre candidat ne s’est présenté pour le poste. Elle s’était également présentée sans opposition lors des élections de 2021.
Au cours des prochaines semaines, une élection partielle aura lieu pour pourvoir le poste. De plus amples informations sur le processus électoral seront communiquées par la municipalité à ce moment-là.
