The Campbell’s Bay RA was decorated in pink and red on Saturday for a Valentine’s-themed pancake breakfast hosted by Campbell’s Bay group the Parent Hive.
Stacks of pancakes with Valentine-themed toppings lined the RA table, as well as sausages and hot beverages. There was also a play area for the kids to enjoy.
Parent Hive president Chanelle Shea said the group wanted to put something together for Valentine’s Day that the whole family can enjoy.
“We had talked about doing stuff on Valentine’s, because with kids, what do you do? So we came up with a pancake breakfast idea and we just ran with it,” she said.
She said the group being fairly new, they are trying to fundraise for future events. The proceeds, she said, will go toward future Parent Hive events.
“We don’t have a specific goal at the moment, but [ . . . ] we’re trying to raise money for new things in the community, new events, stuff geared toward kids,” she said.
Shea said the group, which was formed last year, is trying to organize fun events for kids close to home.
“We always have to travel out of Campbell’s Bay-Litchfield in order to do stuff, so it’s nice to have stuff in our own community.”
The Parent Hive is also preparing to organize a Winter Carnival on Mar. 1, which will feature a hockey shooting competition, science experiments, free hot dogs and chili, and other fun activities.
