A fundraising event held in July by Shawville Ford netted the local R.A. over $2,000.
For every participant that took a test drive at the dealership on July 8, Ford donated $20 towards a local community organization, through a program called Drive 4 UR Community.

The day was a success and brought in 114 people and $2,280.
Organizer Curtis MacKechnie said that this is the third time they’ve held the event and the proceeds have gone to the Shawville District Recreation Association (SDRA) for the past two years. The first year it was held, in 2012, the funds were donated to the Shawville 4-H Club.
SDRA President Kathy Murray said she was grateful for the donation and said the money would go towards upgrades to the R.A.’s facilities and Elwood Dale Baseball Park, as well as keeping the costs down for participants in the R.A. leagues.
MacKechnie said that since Ford will pay up to $6,000 per event, the event has room to grow in the years to come.
“We plan to keep doing this in the future,” he concluded.
