Pontiac High School (PHS) and École secondaire Sieur-de-Coulonge (ESSC) played host to 12 junior volleyball teams from across the Outaouais on Thursday for a one-day tournament.

Four boys teams and four girls teams faced off at PHS, while four more girls’ teams battled it out at ESSC. Teams from Maniwaki, Gracefield and Dr. Wilbert Keon School (DWKS) joined them for the tournament.

Among the more successful teams at the tournament were the ESSC boys’ team, who won 5 out of their 6 sets including a win over rival school PHS. On the girls’ side, the PHS team also won five out of their six sets.

The tournament was the first of two warm-up tournaments before the season concludes with a “Pontiac Cup”-style final where a winner will be crowned.

PHS player Charleigh Beardsley bumps the ball toward teammate Grace MacKechnie against Maniwaki on Thursday.
The ESSC Carcajous celebrate a win over the PHS Panthers on Thursday afternoon. They won the match, two sets to zero.
