Bouffe Pontiac held a fundraising softball tournament over the weekend, hosting 16 teams at Amyotte Park.
“This is the third year we’re doing it,” said tournament organizer Élise Jolin. “Last year we made around $6,000, and we always aim to do better.”
It might be strange to still be hearing about ball tournaments this late into the season, but Jolin boasts that this works best in their favour.
“We always do it late September, just not usually this late,” said Jolin. “But this way more teams can participate.”
Attracting teams from all over, players will come from Pembroke, Gatineau and even Ottawa for the chance to play.
This was also the first year that they’ve featured a collaboration, but they were happy to feature Pontiac MNA André Fortin.
“We never ask for sponsors,” said Jolin.
Fortin was brought on as honourary president of the weekend tournament.
At the end of the games, two teams emerged victorious within their classes. The Beer Buddies took home the mixed division title, while the Indians won the men’s.
