I called my brother out west a little earlier than usual. We talk once a week. When he answered, there was another voice in the background. “Can I call you right back?” he asked. “Sure.” I hung up. I waited. No call back so I went to bed.

He’s kind. He carries a heavy load with an invalid wife, so I know it was just too much going on.

Unfortunately, we can fail each other. We can fall short even with those whom we love. We all can. We’re human. But, there is One who will never fail us. And He is the only One with that capacity. The Lord. He promises in His word that He will never leave us or forsake us. That is a beautiful promise, that I have experienced and continue to. No matter how hard life gets, we are never forgotten. We are never alone. God is Love.
