The early spring weather is upon us. Most of us are happy to bid farewell to winter. However, the spring season comes complete with threats of flooding, and ice storms. As I write this column, I am looking at an overcast sky and freezing drizzle gently falling over the homes and streets in Waltham. The Black River Road is in partially flooded condition, and travel beyond the Trout Lake intersection is not possible at this time.
As of today, the Ottawa River is still within its banks and we can only hope that we will not be experiencing flooding as the weeks go by. Oh yes, spring arrives with much anticipated warmer weather, but it frequently arrives with mixed blessings.
Our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with Linda and Les Carroll and family in the recent passing of Linda’s dearly loved mother Elizabeth Turmacker (nee Lein).
