Who’s really in control?

Who’s really in control?

When we take a close look, we ask ourselves “who is really in control?”

Most of us have participated in the Terry Fox run for cancer research some time in the last twenty plus years. Although millions if not billions of dollars has been raised and donated to pharmaceutical companies to find cures or treatments for cancer and many treatments have been found to reduce the pain, prolong the life of patients and in some cases place cancer in remission indefinitely, very, very few causes of cancer outside of smoking tobacco have been identified as a cause of cancer.

Some multi-million dollar settlements have be awarded to victims or families of victims who died because of improper . . .

safety precautions used in some chemical applications, very few chemicals or practices have been identified as a cause.

Cancer research, treatment, equipment, facilities and jobs related to cancer have grown to a multi-billion dollar industry which I would suppose is a boon to our economy. I would think that everyone who has cancer and is waiting for treatment or for someone to discover a new treatment, would much rather have never contracted cancer.

Why are the possible causes of cancer not identified? Some of the most commonly used weed killers, insecticides and bactericides are known to cause problems in gut health, animal deformity, sterility, early embryonic death and even death to some animal species. Some of these chemicals come with restricted use but are still on the market.

The use of these chemicals are banned in some countries but not in others. Sales of these chemicals can add billions of dollars to a company’s income each year, as well as provide hundreds of jobs. The use of some of these chemicals can make crop and animal production easier and help reduce the costs of some foods. However, sometimes chemical residue from products can lead to contamination, recall and destruction of vegetables and meat. We hear of this on a regular basis.

Then there is a dark side to many of the items that we may consume, use or are in contact with on a daily or weekly basis. There are some undisclosed backers to items as common as bread, milk, water, garbage, construction, prostitution, gambling, restaurants, some politics, and even religion. All the profits, taxes, or other details may net be recorded.

Much more corruption can often be encountered in countries that are governed by something or someone other than a democracy. Winston Churchill once said, “Democracy is the worst form of government — except for all others that have been tried.”

If something smells fishy, don’t let someone pull the wool over your eyes, clean your glasses and take a closer look and keep your ear to the ground.
