Mansfield residents Savanna Sanford and Philippe Cameron may be able to claim the title of having brought Pontiac’s first baby of 2026 into the world.

The newest addition to their family, Noah Daniel Cameron, was born at the Pembroke Regional Hospital at 1:21 p.m. on Jan. 1.

According to the hospital’s Facebook post celebrating this special moment, the baby was delivered by Dr. Sarah Leavey,  weighing in at six pounds, two ounces and measuring 18 inches in length.

THE EQUITY’s tradition of publishing a photo of Pontiac’s first baby of the year has become more difficult since the closure of the Pontiac Hospital’s obstetrics unit. Some years (like this year and last) we get lucky and Pontiac’s first baby is also the first at a local hospital, which is how we found out about it. But if ever you know of another contender, please tell us!
