We were saddened to hear of the passing of Merill Frances Allard of Chapeau, Que. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Chugg). At one time Merill had been very involved in his community and held a position on municipal council. He was a very gentle, kind man. He was always smiling and when you met him, he was always ready for a chat. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this sad time.
On Friday, the Waltham firefighters hosted a group of day camp children in the Waltham Fire Station. The children and their camp councillors, engaged in some fun and games such as bucket brigade competition which ended with each team spraying water on a chalk drawing of flames. This was followed by the children climbing into the different fire trucks as firefighters explained about each truck and how each piece of equipment is used.
Lunch time was a great affair with hot dogs, hamburgers on the menu along with treats and juice. The firefighters handed out gifts, firefighter hats and some take home fire safety games. This is the second year for this program which is known as station visits.
