This coming weekend is Thanksgiving. Let us bow our heads in prayer and be thankful for our many blessings. I sure hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend with their family and friends.

It is, once again, a beautiful time of the year. The Pontiac region is on full display of magnificent foliage. Red, green, yellow and brown leaves are on display everywhere. Added to this beauty, the shining Ottawa River and lakes are the perfect recipe for unmatched natural beauty. Pontiac’s magnificent autumn display is fleeting, so take a walk, or a drive and enjoy.

Fire bans have been confusing for many residents of Waltham and other Pontiac communities. The confusion has mostly been as a result of different municipalities issuing fire bans at different times. Recently, the Association of Fire Chiefs have proposed that such fire bans should be issued by a committee of fire chiefs, and that these fire bans will apply to the entire MRC Pontiac. The final details have yet to be completed, however, it has been agreed by the Pontiac Fire Chief’s Association that this arrangement will make it much easier for our local populations to be up to date on the most recent fire bans being issued and also when the bans are canceled. However, everyone should also be aware of the municipal by-laws relating to open fires in the MRC Pontiac. Residents and visitors should consult with your local municipality regarding restriction relating to outdoor burning during periods not covered by total fire bans.

This coming weekend is the opening of the moose hunt. Good luck is wished to all the hunters and please be safe.
