Tourism Outaouais is getting a funding boost to help the organization boost its profile across the province.
The pilot project will grant $240,000 over three years to target markets outside of the Outaouais to try and entice more tourists to visit the region.
“As a gateway to Quebec, the Outaouais is a strategic region for the tourism market,” said Gatineau MP and Minister of Justice Stéphanie Vallée.

Of the tourists that visit Quebec, more than 40 per cent come from outside the province, which makes the Outaouais an ideal region to capitalize off outsiders – especially Ontarians.
Vallée said that a robust information network can go a long way toward longer visits by tourists, more return trips or even better recommendations to friends.
Unlike Montreal and Quebec City, the Outaouais doesn’t have a tourist information service that extends beyond its region.
