Dear Editor,
Do the Liberals really deserve our vote? As a matter of fact do the Conservatives or the NDP?
When Premier Legault brought forth the discriminatory Bill 96 that went against the Canadian constitution not one of them had the guts to stand up and protect us. Of course, they will tell you, “That’s the notwithstanding clause” would make their protests moot.
Is the constitution that limp that a provincial government can walk over the rights of more than one million of its citizens? This is racism based on language. It has nothing to do with protecting the language rights of our francophone brothers and sisters.
Just because we are anglophone and support Federalim does not mean we don’t love Quebec. Most of us, especially here in the Pontiac, are so intertwined and woven into the fabric of Quebec that it is impossible to call us English or French.
A lot of people outside of Quebec assume we are at each others throats and that is simply not true. Legault’s efforts to disrupt our peace and harmony will only work if our federal leaders sit on their hands and let over one million citizens down.
This Bill 96 has nothing to do with protecting anyone’s rights. If you look at the history of Legault you will understand what he is trying to do. It’s just not right and our federal leaders should not be shirking their duty. If they don’t support us, let them know, we won’t support them.
