Sick as a dog

Sick as a dog

The Equity

I don’t know where that expression came from, but I feel like I am living it. Maybe it’s because my cough sounds like a dog barking? Because it does! Or there might be some other reason it came to be. All I know is how thankful I am that God made our bodies to heal and slowly, very slowly, that is happening.

We take good health for granted.  At least I have. Still there are some important lessons to learn while being sick. Sickness bumps up our empathy for others when they go through being set aside. You get to be the benefit of kind friends who bring you soup and encouragement. All these bring about a thankful heart even in the midst of isolation. As I heard it said long ago, by a woman when asked how she was doing? She said, “Much to be thankful for!” And I can say amen to that!
