The Shawville and District Recreation Association hosted a three-pitch and fastball tournament last weekend, seeing over ten teams bring their A game to the field, despite enduring record hot September temperatures.
Kicking the fastball games off Friday night, the Tubman Auto Body Twins took on the Micksburg Twins, with the former winning 11 – 4 in this first match. This wouldn’t be the last these teams saw of each other on the weekend, though.

Next up, Fitzroy Harbour squared off against the Hursty’s Bar and Grill Athletics, with the A’s taking that game 2 – 0.
Three-pitch and fastball games continued all through the weekend, with the rest of Friday night’s games dedicated to the three-pitch games.
The three-pitch concluded with Willow Hollow Farms taking home the title, after narrowly beating the Truckers for the top spot.
The final fastball game took place Sunday at 3 p.m., seeing the Twins face off once again. The Micksburg Twins just couldn’t prevail however and the game ended with a walk-off homer from Tubman’s Lane McMurtry. The final score was 4 – 3, for Tubman.
This tournament acted as a fundraiser for the RA, which puts the money towards local programming, equipment upkeep, grounds maintenance, as well as upgrades to the Elwood Dale Park and baseball diamond.
