The Shawville Curling Club hosted its annual Lions Bonspiel on Saturday, with the weather not deterring curlers who competed to win the coveted Lions Club Governors trophy.
The bonspiel is a one-day event where members of Lions Clubs from all over the Pontiac, and sometimes beyond, come out to see which members from which club can throw the best rocks.
Organizer Eric Smith said that the winning team has to coordinate the following year. Six teams competed Saturday, with bragging rights this year going to a team from the Shawville Lions Club consisting of Greg Hayes, Sam Hayes and James Howard. They are pictured below with organizer Eric Smith who noted that Elwyn Lang also played with the winning trio for their first game but unfortunately could not attend the final game.
