Dear Editor,

I would first like to state that I have never written a letter to the editor in my life and for the first time I feel that this particular subject warrants writing about.

For the fifth time I have listened to the MRC Pontiac regional council meeting from Jan. 20 via the Facebook link, in particular the last 10 minutes of that particular session and I am saddened by . . .

the continued confusion at the regional table. My interpretation is that councillor Orr’s motion was passed with an additional ‘further resolved to take it to the Plenary.’ Am I mistaken?

If I may, and this is my personal opinion, I would hope that any possibility of such a large project would warrant continued discussion at the regional tables, both plenary and council. I feel some individuals in this council do not understand the biopark project. What is important is that at this very moment in our regional history, the federal and provincial governments are investing in us, they believe there is possibility here and I fear that if we (as a region) do not grab on and run with excitement to make this project a reality, it may be a long time before we are taken seriously again, if ever.

I must admit that the idea of this biopark project baffles my mind. Who am I to understand the advanced technology that is proposed but I do realize the possibility of the revitalization of the forest industries and our county? There is not one person who can contest the beauty of our region, let us tell the federal and provincial governments that we want this development, we want to bring back jobs, wealth and happiness to the MRC Pontiac. Support this project with open hearts and give the future a chance.
