Last Friday the gang at Mountainview Turf kicked off the festive season with a fun Christmas party in the Mountainview shop. Bill and Jenn Telford catered a delicious turkey and roast beef dinner with all of the trimmings, and many prizes were handed out throughout the afternoon. Wayne Ramsay was also honoured for his 40 years of service. For the past several years, the staff has gifted owners Jared and Lindsay Hamilton with a donation in their name to a worthy local cause, and this year, it gave us great joy to present a gift to one of our own. After a very difficult year, we presented our co-worker Amanda Foran with a gift to help bring some extra cheer to her and her children this Christmas. It was a fantastic afternoon of good food, drinks, and laughter.
On Saturday evening, a crowd of family and friends gathered at the Quyon Legion to celebrate Chris Dowe’s 50th birthday. A light lunch was served, and everyone had a great time helping the birthday boy mark this milestone.
Deepest sympathy is going out to the Kingsbury family, as Lorne Kingsbury passed away last week. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones at this sad time.
Birthday wishes are going out to Landyn Prest on Dec. 4, and to Owen Johnston and Dustin Young on the 5th. Happy birthday to Cash Watson and Bucky Fleck on the 6th and to Tessa Romain and Willow Brownlee on the 7th. Best wishes to all who are celebrating this week.
Congratulations to Liam Queale, as his team won the B Division of the Fish Findlay Hockey Tournament this past weekend in Shawville.
Don’t forget that Santa Claus is coming to town this Sat., Dec. 6. The Quyon Lions Club will be hosting a Parade of Lights starting at 6 p.m. All are invited to gather at the Quyon Community Centre afterwards to visit with Santa Claus and enjoy some treats. Hot dogs and hot chocolate will also be served courtesy of the Quyon Legion. Get those parade entries ready and let’s light up the town with Christmas spirit.
The Egan Mill is also making festive plans, as they have a magical mail box set up for children to drop off their letters to Santa, and he will respond to every letter. On the evening of Dec. 6, Santa Claus will also be stopping in there to meet with kids, and hand out gifts and treats. There will be soup and chili on the menu, and they will be doing a Christmas tree lighting as well. It sure sounds like it will be a wonderfully festive night for Quyon.
