Congratulations to Kristen (Woolsey) and Matt Curley on the arrival of their baby girl, born on Nov. 19.  They named her Evelyn Ray, and she is a little sister for Brooks.  Best wishes to the whole family as they settle in with their sweet wee girl.

Last Tuesday evening, Joel Plaskett was on-stage at Gavan’s Hotel for a special weeknight show.  It was an amazing opportunity to see a true Canadian icon right in Quyon, and I hear it was an amazing show. I was sorry to miss it, as I’ve been a fan of Joel Plaskett for years.  Kudos to the Gavan’s team for bringing such incredible talent to our small town.

The local deer hunting season wrapped up this past weekend, and I have heard of quite a few successful hunters in our community this year. I hope all of the hunters have enjoyed the past few weeks.

Deepest sympathies are extended to Johanne Bottrill and her family on the passing of her husband, Emery Greer, on Nov. 18.  Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Emery’s loved ones at this sad time.

Birthday wishes are going out to Karen Knight on Nov. 27, to Bonnie Fraser-Dowe on the 28th, and to Chris Dowe on the 29th. Happy birthday to Garrett Rusenstrom, also on the 29th, to Presley Thomson on the 30th, and to Thomas Hamilton on Dec. 2.  Happy days to all celebrating this week.

Don’t forget that the Quyon Pastoral Charge’s Annual Christmas House Tour is coming up on Monday, Dec. 1.  This year, the tour stops include the homes of Brittany McKenny & Kris Belsher, Jenna & Stephen Rusenstrom, and Eddie & Dianne McCann, as well as Parker Station, a former railway station that now serves as the cottage of Paul & Sandra Nugent.  Refreshments will be served in the Quyon church basement throughout the evening, as well.  Please contact me if you need tickets.

Santa Claus is coming to town in a big way on Dec. 6.  The Quyon Lions Club will be hosting a Parade of Lights starting at 6 p.m.. Afterwards, all are invited to the Quyon Community Centre to meet with Santa and share their Christmas wishes with him.  Hot dogs and hot chocolate will also be served courtesy of the Quyon Legion.

Meanwhile, the Egan Mill has a magical mail box set up for children to drop off their letters to Santa, and he will respond to every letter.  On the evening of Dec. 6, Santa Claus will also be stopping in there to meet with kids, and hand out gifts and treats.  There will also be soup and chili on the menu.  It promises to be a fun and festive evening in Quyon, and we can’t wait.
