Last Friday, Nov. 14, a group of family and friends gathered at the Quyon Legion to surprise Vicky Leach on her 40th birthday. Everyone had a great evening honouring the birthday girl. We enjoyed delicious snacks and drinks, and had a fantastic night celebrating. Wishing Vicky all the best on her milestone birthday.
On Sunday morning, the Quyon Lions Club served up a delicious brunch at the Community Centre that was enjoyed by many. Since we have no place in town that serves breakfast now, it was a real treat to go out for brunch after church and support the Lions Club at the same time. A big thank you to the Lions for the yummy breakfast.
Birthday wishes are going out to Dakota Hudson and Sue McKay, both celebrating on Nov. 21. Happy birthday to Holly Hamilton on the 23rd, to Shannon Johnston-McCann on the 24th, and to Bob Young on the 25th. Best wishes to all celebrating special occasions this week.
The Christmas season is arriving quickly, with many events coming up in Quyon and throughout the Pontiac for all to enjoy. Tickets are now available for the Christmas House Tour presented by the Quyon Pastoral Charge, which will be held on Dec. 1. The tour stops include the homes of Brittany McKenny & Kris Belsher, Jenna & Stephen Rusenstrom, and Eddie & Dianne McCann, as well as Parker Station, a former railway station that now serves as the cottage of Paul & Sandra Nugent. If you are interested in tickets, please just let me know.
Be sure to mark your calendars for Dec. 6, for the annual Santa Claus Parade hosted by the Quyon Lions Club. The parade will start at 6 p.m., and afterwards, Santa will be at the Community Centre to greet the children and hand out treats. Hot dogs and hot chocolate will also be served courtesy of the Quyon Legion.
The Egan Mill is inviting children to drop off their letters to Santa, as they have a special mail box that goes directly to the North Pole. Santa will reply to their letters, and he will also be stopping by the Mill on the evening of the parade. They will have a tree lighting, and they will also be serving up soup, chili, and hot chocolate. It certainly sounds like it will be a festive evening in Quyon. I am already looking forward to it.
