I hope everyone enjoyed the Labour Day weekend. I spent a great deal of it at the Shawville Fair, enjoying looking at the exhibits, listening to great music, indulging in delicious fair food, and watching the fun in the Midway. The festivities kicked off in cool, rainy weather, but it only got warmer and sunnier as the weekend went on. Hats off to the organizers and volunteers on pulling off yet another hugely successful event.
This coming weekend, Quyon will be hosting our own big event, as the Quyon Community Association is holding Community Day on Sat., Sept. 6. This year will be extra special as Quyon celebrates its 150th Anniversary. The day features free entry and the fun begins at noon on the grounds at the Community Centre. There will be activities for children in the park, including a 9-hole mini putt. The entertainment on-stage will include the house band, Chicken Fried, as well as Lorne Brady & friends, Barry Teevens & friends, Gail Gavan, Amber Prud’homme, Valley Mountain, and Southpaw. The Great Canadian Lumberjacks will be putting on shows throughout the day, and the Drone Show will be in the evening at 8:30 p.m. The Quyon Lions Club will be serving up a fabulous roast beef dinner starting at 4:30 p.m. Don’t forget your toonies to play the Wall of Wonderful. It promises to be an amazing day to celebrate Quyon’s Sesquicentennial year!
Meanwhile, Quyon Sports & Rec will be hosting their annual 3-pitch fundraising tournament at the ball field starting on Fri., Sept. 5 and continuing into the day on Saturday. This makes for an amazing weekend with so much happening in town. Between the ball field and the Community Centre, Quyon is the place to be this weekend.
Congratulations to Michael McCann and Hailey Berube, as they recently got engaged. Wishing them all the best as they begin wedding planning.

Happy birthday to Collins Fleck on the 6th, to Adam Johnston and Glenna Campbell on the 7th, and to Raymie Duquette and Hayden Hobbs on the 9th. Best wishes to everyone celebrating special occasions this week.
Congratulations to two former Pontiac Lions, Taytum Thompson and Tristan Queale, who have been selected to play for the Gatineau Intrepide M17 AAA hockey team. Way to go boys.
Mark your calendars for Sept. 20, as the Quyon Lions Club will be hosting their annual ATV Poker Run.
