Congratulations to Becky (McKay) and Kevin Renaud on the arrival of their baby boy on June 1. They named him Barrett Gregory Terrance, and he is a little brother for Hazel. Wishing the family all the best as they settle in with their little bundle of blue.

Best wishes are going out to Emily McCann and Kurt Fraser, as they also recently welcomed a baby boy. Ruby is very excited to have a little brother named Elliott-Michael Thomas. Congratulations to Emily, Kurt, and all of the family on their beautiful boy.

A stag & doe party was held at Gavan’s Hotel on Saturday evening in honour of Amanda Foran and Derek Lepine. The happy couple were surrounded by family and friends who gathered to celebrate with them as their wedding day approaches. DJ Dave provided the music, and there were games, prizes and lots of fun throughout the evening. Congratulations to Amanda and Derek.

The Quyon Community Association is gearing up for the big Canada Day celebrations to be held on June 30, and they started out by dressing the town up in red & white. They spent Saturday putting up the beautiful Canada Day banners throughout the village, including new ones to honour Quyon’s 150th Anniversary. The banners look fantastic, and a special thanks to the QCA for their hard work in putting them up. Be sure to mark your calendars for June 30, as the annual Canada Day parade and fireworks are not to be missed!

The Moulin Egan Mill is now open for ice cream every day, and it is so wonderful to have an ice cream stand in town again. My mom and I enjoyed a delicious treat on Sunday evening, and many others in our community have been loving the ice cream too. They also have a beautiful area with picnic tables set up overlooking the Quyon River. We are so excited to see what is still to come once the Mill itself opens in the near future.
Birthday wishes are going out to Chelsea Lapierre on June 12 and to Juniper Young on the 17th. Best wishes to everyone celebrating special occasions this week.

The United Church of Canada is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and at Quyon and Wesley United Churches, we have opted to have our own celebration service on June 15. The service will be at Wesley United Church in Beechgrove at 10:30 a.m., and all are welcome to join us for a morning of celebrating 100 years being part of the United Church of Canada. We will be singing favourite hymns, enjoying a slideshow of memories from our particular chapter of the United Church history book, and celebrating with cake and coffee after the service. Please join us as we celebrate 100 years of the United Church of Canada.

Wishing all of the dads out there a great day on Sunday, whether you are golfing, fishing, just relaxing, or enjoying a barbeque with your families. Happy Father’s Day to all of you!
