I hope everyone enjoyed the Victoria Day long weekend. The weather was quite disappointing, unfortunately, as it was cold, windy, and rainy for much of the weekend. That said, I took advantage of the opportunity to relax and do small jobs around the house, as well as enjoy a dinner out with family. Here’s hoping for nicer weather for this coming weekend.

Our condolences to the family of Norman Coyle, as he passed away on May 5. A Celebration of Life was held in honour of Norm on Saturday afternoon at the Quyon Legion, where family and friends gathered to toast him and share stories. Thoughts and prayers are with all of his loved ones.

On Saturday evening, a Stag & Doe was held at Gavan’s Hotel in honour of Nick Kluke and Presha Donohue. The band Silas was on-stage to entertain the crowd, and many of their friends and family members were there to celebrate with the happy couple. Wishing them all the best as their June wedding is quickly approaching.
Birthday wishes are going out to Betty Kennedy on May 22, and to Sheena Hudson and Hailey Berube, both on the 23rd. Happy birthday to Beth Lang and Meghan Foran on the 25th, and to Mary Ellen Young on the 27th. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.

Onslow Elementary School is currently holding an Online Auction, and they have an amazing array of items and services donated by students, vendors and local businesses available to bid on. The Auction is open until May 26 and is being held on Facebook, be sure to check it out. Onslow is also hosting a Spring Fair coming up on the 29th, with the Quyon Lions running the BBQ, and there will be fun for all ages. Be sure to come out and support one of our local schools.

A reminder that the Quyon Legion has a few big events coming up, with their Barbotte Supper being held this Thursday, May 22, and then their BBQ Party in celebration of Quyon’s 150th coming up on May 31. There will be music provided by Reg & Shag in the afternoon and then Chicken Fried will take the stage in the evening. There will also be a delicious chicken & rib BBQ by Smokin Boys and Hot Grills. To order dinner, you can contact Vicky Leach at 613-296-3440. It sounds like a great day, mark your calendars and plan to come out and celebrate Quyon’s 150th with the Quyon Legion.
