We attended a lovely baby shower on Saturday in honour of Sarah Kavanagh at the Wesley United Church in Beechgrove. Sarah and Rob Fraser are expecting their first child so family and friends gathered for a delicious luncheon and to shower the mommy-to-be with gifts and good wishes. Wishing Sarah and Rob all the best as they anxiously await their baby boy’s arrival in May.
Just down the road, another baby shower was being held at the home of Shirley-Mae Davis, in honour of her granddaughter Samantha Davis. Samantha and her husband Sam Rodrigue are also expecting a baby boy and her family members were thrilled to celebrate the upcoming arrival with her.
Saturday afternoon, we attended the Easter Tea at the Shawville United Church in support of Villa James Shaw. The sandwiches and squares were delicious, and I hear the fundraiser was a huge success. Kudos to all of the organizers.
On Saturday night, I hosted A Little Taste of Italy dinner in my home for Dale MacKechnie, Lisa McKenny, Bart Stanley and Barb Atwell. This was my donation to last year’s Canada Day Committee Facebook Auction which Dale won and while it took us a long time to set the date I was so happy to finally serve up my homemade lasagna for the guests of honour. We enjoyed an evening of laughs and I’m glad they all enjoyed the meal. It was a terrific evening.
Congratulations to Denny Welburn who celebrated his Good Time Heart CD release at the Cobden Legion on Sunday afternoon. This musical project is in support of Valley Heritage Radio. He was joined by many talented local entertainers and musicians on stage throughout the afternoon playing to a sold out crowd including many family and friends. Way to go, Denny.
Big birthday wishes are going out to Oliver Schwartz, celebrating on March 28 with love from Mom, Dad, Annie, and Fletcher. We also have birthday wishes going out to Glen Leach and his grandson Cameron Bernier, sharing their big day on April 1. Happy fourth birthday to Sam Woermke on April 3 with love from his mommy, daddy and baby sister Lainey.
I’d like to give a little shout-out to Michaela Corrigan and her business Perfectly Polished in Shawville. I treated myself to a manicure and pedicure last week and Michaela did a wonderful job. She is located right next to Hursty’s. I’m already looking forward to going again.
Today is Soup and Sandwich at Quyon United Church. Stop in for a bowl of hot soup, yummy sandwiches, and dessert. Always a delicious lunch.
As we are in the midst of Holy Week, I’d like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter. I hope everyone enjoys the celebration, and that the Bunny is good to each and every one of you.
