One local entrepreneur has found so much success in her home-based business, that now she’s gone on to open a dedicated shop in the retail district of Shawville.
Perfectly Polished can now be found sitting pretty between Hursty’s Bar and Grill and 99 Reasons on Main Street, where the owner, a certified esthetician, will continue to offer her wide selection of nail salon services.
“I’ve been working from home but decided it’d be easier if I had my own spot,” said Michaela Corrigan, owner of Perfectly Polished. “Then this place came up for rent.”
Working on and off from home for around four years now, her clientele base grew. Not too long ago, it was decided she’d better make the leap and get her own location downtown, feeling comfortable enough to service an even larger customer base.
“I was busy at home, so I thought I might have more exposure with a store front,” said Corrigan.
Celebrating her grand opening on Friday evening, guests were invited to check out her new location, while enjoying a drink and bite of something sweet. While Corrigan will be the only one working at the shop, this evening she had friends and family joining her to help welcome guests.
Corrigan initially pursued a career in the beauty business in an effort to work closely with her mom. While she wasn’t as interested in following the same career path, she did choose to find something that would coincide with her mom’s.
“My mom is a massage therapist and I wanted to do something with her, to complement her work,” said Corrigan.
Business continues to be busy for Corrigan, who said her whole weekend was filled with appointments, no doubt boosted by specials she offered in conjunction with the opening.
She’ll continue to offer manicures, pedicures, shellacs, waxing, facial and tinting services and plans to have special promotional pricing through her advertising each month.
“I try to offer a lot of promotions,” said Corrigan. “I do specials every month.”
