Dear Editor and Dr. O’Neill,
Thank you for the long story concerning Bill 106 (Local doctors concerned QC bill will ‘squeeze already overstretched’ colleagues, THE EQUITY, July 23, 2025). If passed, local doctors who have a heavy work load could be paid less and forced to do more. There would be little incentive to bring in much needed doctors and health advocates.
How can our community help you and ourselves?
Pray? Cry? Or say to a group, more or less five, of enthusiastic young doctors, “Come to Shawville to enjoy time, open space, community, a comfortable income, easy accessibility to Canada’s capital, a well-equipped hospital, magnificent scenery, recreational and cultural opportunities, growing multiculturalism, international cuisine, and a prosperous way of life. We have two pharmacies, two banks, a winery, a library, museum, an annual agricultural fair, excellent services and several new for sale/for rent residences. French is an assett in this large bilingual area that is served by the Pontiac Community Hospital. Please come.”
Rev. Mary McDowell Wood, Shawville
