Eric Goyette, a 33-year-old man from Gatineau, was killed on Jan. 23 when his car swerved into the opposite lane of Hwy. 148 in Breckenridge and struck a Hydro-Quebec truck head-on. Police say that texting may have played a role in the collision.

Police say that texting might have played a role in a brutal accident involving a Hydro-Quebec truck last Tuesday that left a male victim fatally injured.
On Jan. 23, 33-year-old Eric Goyette of Gatineau was travelling east on Hwy. 148 near Maple Road in Breckenridge at around 10 p.m.
According to the initial investigation, his car swerved into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with a Hydro-Quebec truck travelling in the opposite direction.

Goyette was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was not injured.
MRC des Collines Police said in a press release that though the investigation is still ongoing, they suspect texting played a role in the collision.
A detailed inspection of Goyette’s vehicle will take place over the coming weeks.
