The Luskville Community Centre was packed with families on Friday night as the Groupe Action Jeunesse  (GAJ) hosted its annual talent show. 

The non-profit recreation group, combined with additional children from the local daycare, hosted 11 acts by children on stage, from piano and fiddling performances to several dance numbers. The theme this year was “Luskville goes Nashville” and there were plenty of cowboy hats and boots throughout the room. 

Bianca Denis, GAJ’s treasurer, said that they offered a wide variety of dress-up and craft activities for the children prior to the performances. By the time the show was about to start, they were nearing capacity of the building. 

“Luskville’s a small town, there’s not much, so our organization makes sure that kids have sports and events like this where they can get together as a group,” she said.

In addition to the children performing on stage, franco-Ontarian country singer Kristine St-Pierre closed out the evening with her tunes. 

Denis added that they were pleased with the turnout. 

“It’s a full crowd tonight,” she said. “This is great because it brings the community together and it’s one of the things Groupe Action Jeunesse is really proud of.”
