Our sympathy to the family and friends of Joe Teevens who passed away last week.
Our sympathy also to the family and friends of Ronnie Campbell who passed away last week at the age of 77.
Sympathy also to the family and friends of Mrs. Sandy McDougall who passed away last week.
Get well wishes to Don Knox who is in Shawville Hospital. We wish him all the best.
Boutique Shawville Shooz has opened in Shawville at 387 Main St. It will be nice to have it open.
My sister Beulah Grife is here with us this week. Last Saturday she was invited to her niece’s cottage on Greys Lake along with her brother Wilfred Zimmerling for lunch and a visit.
This week we have cards in Otter Lake on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and darts Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. Also on Thursday evening there is a potluck dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. with cards and darts starting after the dinner. I always choose the darts and my sister Beulah does too. She really loved darts and is a good player.

We went to daylight saving time last Sunday which is much nicer for the evenings. Now that spring is nearly here we will have longer days to work outside.
It is probably time to start indoor plants. I usually start some tomato plants but I never know when it is a good time to start. I must call Freida Krose to see when she starts hers. She always knows when and hers are ready to go by the end of May. I’m hoping it is this week so my sister can give me a hand.
Some people around Ladysmith have tapped some maples and have made some syrup already. David Pasch has tapped a few near his house and when he came last week he brought us a jar of the fresh syrup and it is delicious. When Beulah is here I will be making pancakes. My brother, Wilfred who lives with us really loves pancakes too. I prefer the potato pancakes but they are more work. I guess I will take the time to make them.
I always look forward to the Zion Lutheran Church Pancake Supper. They have it on Easter weekend on the Saturday night. This year it will be March 31. Check the classified ads for more information the week before. They have the potato pancakes also the regular along with sausages and baked beans, etc. It is a supper not to miss.
The day after the snowfall when I looked out the window, there were wolf tracks. I guess during the night they came close to the houses. Allison Corrigan was saying that one day last week there were wolf tracks in his driveway. Allison lives on the 5th Line just outside of Shawville on the Portage highway. He was also saying that he hears the wolves howling some nights.
There are a few more deer getting killed on the road now. Over the weekend there was one killed near Essie Schwartz’s house. Last weekend someone driving past Essie’s house hit the guard rail in front of her house and wrecked about half of it. It was about 11 p.m. last Friday night. Essie heard a loud noise and went out to see if anyone was hurt. They were all okay. Then she called the police.
Happy birthday to Madison Hodgins, Cathy MacFarlane, Steven Krose and Cory Hodgins who all celebrate today, to Wendy Taylor on March 15, to Trina Inglis on March 19, to Donna Woods on March 18 and to Rilla Graham on March 20.
Happy St. Patty’s Day to everyone. I hope you all enjoy your day. May you always walk in sunshine and may the winds always be at your back.

On March 9, the Community Bean Supper took place. Again, many different types of bean dishes were brought in, plenty to choose from.
What started off as a quiet dinner grew into a steady trickle of people walking in to enjoy a nice dinner with family and friends. Tables were quickly filled, food was eaten, desserts were enjoyed, and there were many of them!
