Almost 200 people joined together at the Luskville Community Centre on Saturday morning, as the second Breakfast with Santa took over the hall. From left: Tianna Beaufort-Bradley shows off the gift tag she designed, while her brother Maxim Beaufort-Bradley works away on his own.

Crafts, breakfast and a visit from the jolly man himself brought kids and their families to the Luskville Community Centre on Saturday morning.
Close to 200 people attended the second Breakfast with Santa, where the Comité de Parents de la Municipalité de Pontiac 0-5 ans (PMP 0-5 ans) organized Christmas-themed fun for all the local children.
“We’ve been organizing for about six weeks now,” said Camille Beaufort, a member of the committee. “We’ve been here since 7 a.m. to start making pancakes.”
Running from 9 a.m. till noon, the morning saw a long line of hungry families waiting for their breakfast, while eager kids awaited the arrival of Santa himself.

Around 150 people registered to come out, but the group was prepared for more and happily welcomed walk-ins. After the success of last year’s breakfast, they knew to be prepared for a huge turnout.
“We were really happy with last year’s attendance,” said Beaufort. “We expected around 50 people, but well over 100 came.”
Crafts were organized by the Get Art committee, where kids decorated tree ornaments as well as gift tags.
Children were able to write their letter to Santa at a special station, colour in pictures, get their face painted and get a picture taken with St. Nick.
Following the visit from Santa, a puppet show was put on by one of the parents.
“[This party] is a lot of fun, because the kids go to school together, recognize each other and it all works as a community builder,” said Beaufort.
Beaufort said she and the other committee members, Sylvie L’Heureux, Marinka Ménard, and Sophie Hunter-Racicot, were pleasantly surprised by the decorations onsite when they arrived. In preparation for an upcoming event, a group of seniors had strung wreaths and hung ornaments in the community centre, adding to the festive feel for the breakfast.
The breakfast only cost families $10 for their group, and financial support was provided by the Municipality of Pontiac. Non-perishable food donations were accepted at the door for St. Vincent de Paul.
