SHAWVILLE Dec. 20, 2018
On Dec. 20, students from Pontiac High School put on two festive dramatic productions to kick off the holiday season. They performed a matinee at 1 p.m. and an evening performance at 7 p.m.
The first feature, Dr. Seuss’ magnum opus How the Grinch Stole Christmas, was performed by Mrs. Cahill’s class. Though it was an abridged version of the tale, they still managed to fit in the classic tunes from the story.
In addition to the thespians on stage, live musical accompaniment was provided by Mr. Lottes and Mr. G MacIntosh, which significantly added to the festive ambiance.
After a brief intermission, the grade 11 drama students began their take on It’s a Wonderful Neverland, a comedic mashup of Peter Pan and It’s a Wonderful Life by Patrick Greene and Jason Pizzarello.
Peter (played by Grant Moore) is guided through the dystopian future of a Neverland that he never inhabited by Tinkerbell’s delightfully graceless cousin Stinkerbell (played by Kole Tuckey). Pete discovers that the Lost Boys are now employed by Captain Two Hands (Nicholas Richard), the Darling children have become insufferable teenagers and Tink is living in a psych ward.
Following the production, Director Gord Graham lauded the cast and crew for their hard work and highlighted the current status of the school’s auditorium restoration project.
