The government of Quebec is ponying up nearly $130,000 to maintain the inter-city bus line between Allumettes Island and Gatineau.
The bus leaves Allumettes Island weekday mornings just after 5 a.m. and arrives in Gatineau at around 7 a.m. with several stops along the way.
MRC Pontiac will receive $128, 675 from the provincial government to help fund the bus service.

The money will come out of the province’s Green Fund and the Land Transportation Network Fund.
The funding will be doled out over a 12-month period, ensuring the continuity of the service until at least October 16, 2018.
“Maintaining a daily inter-city transport service between Allumettes Island and Gatineau allows many citizens to get to work while participating in the fight against climate change,” said Pontiac MNA André Fortin in a press release. “It is also a project that greatly contributes to the economic development of the Pontiac region.”
